TELL YOUR TALE – HELP US EDIT THE SCRIPT TO YOUR FAMILY’S CROATIAN ADVENTURE STORY.
Give us your details and together we’ll smooth out all the edges until you have your very own unique itinerary that you can’t wait to start.
YOUR CROATIAN TALE
Croatia is where the Adriatic coast meets Mediterranean islands. It’s adorned with stone-built fishing villages and fir-lined forests with sapphire lakes that dazzle at every turn. Fragranced with lavender fields, grilled meats to make your mouth water and buckets-full of O2 that’ll keep your lungs singing (now you know how Julie Andrews did it). The crystal clear Dalmatian coastline is the clear choice for a family adventure to clear the cobwebs and settle the mind. It’s so well endowed with natural untouched beauty, that there’s little need to venture further than two pit-stops along the way.
Chapter 1: THE BEGINNING – ŠIBENIK
Arrive in Split, the largest city of the Dalmatian region, or in Zadar, where you’ll be escorted to your hotel for an afternoon of pool lounging and your first plate of Croatian cuisine for dinner. Kick off your first full day the family way at the Krka National Park, where you can truly get your bond on (the family and 007 variety)! Swim beneath cascading waterfalls in crystal clear lakes and dry off by zipping through the forest trails by bike. Keep the kids entertained with a treasure hunt in the National Park whilst the adults sneak off for a sip of the good stuff at Bibich winery. Spend the rest of the evening however you see fit and let us know if you’d like some ideas thrown your way.
If you want some kid-free adventure fun, test your balance abilities on a stand-up paddleboard, or kayak around Zlarin Island picking up some of your own treasure in this coral-diving island village. Share your spoils back on the mainland for a family picnic lunch on the beach, but be prepared to pick the winner of your kids’ sandcastle fort competition. Spend the afternoon winding down exploring the local area or try your hand at cooking a true Dalmatian dish with local chef Ivana Orešić. Adult-only evenings are available with a little help from our trained and qualified childcare, so take advantage and have a kid-free late-night meal.
Chapter 2: THE MIDDLE – PAKLENICA NATIONAL PARK
Now you’ve had a good taste of Croatia’s natural wonder, yummy grub and unprecedented potential for both adventure and chill, it’s time to get to the meat and bones of it all with a day trip to Paklenica National Park known for its dramatic canyons, karst rock formations and black-pine forests. Whilst the big boys and girls hike up through Velika and Mala Paklenica gorges, the younger ones will be led on a kid-friendly nature trail through the forest. After lunch, you’ve more than earned a trip to the spa, so treat yourselves to an afternoon in the panoramic Acquapura Spa, hooked up with a Thalasso pool, a Turkish hammam and relaxation rooms equipped with waterbeds, swings and floor to ceiling windows that look out to the Adriatic sea.
Chapter 3: THE END – PLITVICE LAKES
Before moving on to what could possibly be the pièce de résistance of Croatian nature’s finest, you’ll stop off in Zadar for a quick whip around the town. Experience the haunting sounds of a Sea Organ before grabbing lunch and tipple, tasting the local Maraschino liqueur. Arrive at Plitvice Lakes National Park and settle into this breathtaking landscape. Choose from a range of tree-house, log-cabin or guest-house accommodation for the next couple of days. A UNESCO world heritage site, Plitvice Lakes National Park looks like somewhere the elves from Lord of The Rings would live! If that has no relevance for you, let Google be your friend with this one and remember to pick your jaw up when you’re done. Start your first full day in this elvish wonderland with morning yoga, hiking or boating hopping from lake to trail exploring the waterfalls, canyons and turquoise natural springs. Pitch a family picnic for lunch and enjoy a fun-filled evening or kid-free dinner – the choice is yours.
Head out for some river kayaking at Mreznica River, whilst the kids learn mime games and the art of storytelling back at base-camp. Get a spot of lunch before jumping right into the lid of a chocolate box at the magical watermill village of Rastoke. This picturesque village offers a quaint hobbit-esque location for grabbing lunch and enjoying the fantasy of a simpler time. Wrap up your trip with a farewell dinner and time to pack up for a morning transfer to Split Airport.
